Business Acumen

  • Skilled Portrait Studio Artist, ability to interact with guests, book sessions, conduct photo sessions, edit images, conduct sales sessions and product ordering.
  • Post production using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and other photo software programs, online ordering of specific products is completed each cruise by the Portrait Studio Artist. Photography seminars, sales demonstrations and guest consultations are all part of the Portrait Artists duties onboard.
  • Portrait Studio Artist must be able to demonstrate a wide range of photography skills under studio and natural light conditions. In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Work with Photo Manager to maximize schedule and session opportunities
  • To meet and exceed company set goals for performance and revenue
  • To ensure all onboard advertising and promotional material is within company brand guidelines
  • To be responsible for maintaining of all equipment and working areas. Regularly clean and test cameras and lenses to ensure full working conditions.
  • Sample images and product displays to be kept in excellent condition and displayed as per guidelines.
  • Participate in daily desk hours at various locations around the ship, to promote high-end photography studio program.
  • During Embarkation process – host a display and promotional desk at an agreed location, for new guests to learn about the studio program.
  • Portrait Studio Artist to take full responsibility for equipment and hardware supplied by company.
  • To complete and submit the end-of-cruise reports and analysis to the shoreside Photo Operations Management and ships management as required.
  • Maintain equipment and studio inventory and provide Photo Manager end of cruise counts.
  • Receive and unload stores and process paperwork as required
  • To work within the ship’s team structure and complete required safety training and security duties as determined by the ships officers and the Photo Manager.
  • Conduct training on basic policies and procedures for high-end photography studio program to rest of photo team so that a good working knowledge of the operation is attained and understood.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.

Qualifications:

 

  • Portrait photography experience strongly preferred.
  • College educated, complete resume showing required experience, with strong professional and character references. Where no relevant education exists, suitable experience may be taken into consideration. 
  • Applicant must have advanced computer literacy, knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and be able to operate other advanced computer systems, touch-screen kiosks and perform basic computer troubleshooting procedures.
  • Minimum of six months experience as a photographer required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of English grammar is required.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions at all levels including one on ones and large groups
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of discretion, patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exemplary customer and personal service including needs assessment, problem resolution and achievement of quality service standards
  • Completion of high school, basic or vocational education equivalency preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and function under pressure in a deadline oriented, fast paced environment for extended periods.


Language Requirements:

 

  • Excellent ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially
  • Excellent ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and write operational procedures, policies and manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively and cordially present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.

 Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Extensive travel from ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities require good health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key for prolonged success in the position
  • All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.  The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Reporting directly to the Photo Manager, the Portrait Studio Artist operates a high-end photography studio to give our guests an amazing experience producing portraits that thrill them. We do this by providing an exciting, vibrant workspace for our staff and guests with ongoing support and training to become the top portrait studio of choice at sea or on land. Photo sessions take place in the studio, around the ship and even ashore in our exotic destinations. 

Incumbent must have working knowledge Studio Portrait Studio Equipment, Private Studio operations, Marketing and Sales.
