Tips for creating a successful CV

The CV is your personal advert, if well written it will make the employer contact you for an interview.

Here are some tips to create a successful CV:

Simplicity.  A resume is the first and probably the last chance to ensure your interview. Therefore it is extremely important that your resume work in your favor and not vice versa. Use it to get attention on the power of your work ,on your accomplishments and the technical knowledge.

The achievements must be outlined.  It is best to use a number of active verbs, such as: I realized, I planned, I organized, I was responsible for, I drove, etc. It is not advisable to use all kinds of signs for organizing ideas, a CV can be more easily read if fluent.

Reverse chronology. When you start to complete the experience, you should start with your last job and then continue in the same reverse chronological order with the following, not forgetting to mention the employer's name, start/ end date of the job, job title and description, plus your accomplishments. Complete any relevant experience, paid or not.

Sincerity. If you lie in your CV, not only you do not do any good, but at the same time you make the prospective employer to lose time without meaning. To add 6 months further experience to a job may seem like a good idea, but if the information is verified, be sure that you're out of a job. But do not sell yourself too cheap! If you think the three summers you've spent in France working as a volunteer, have helped to know the country and its culture, then say it!

IT / Language skills. You have to write every computer skills you own as well as all foreign languages you can speak at least at a conversational level. Do not mention things that you are not familiar with, or worse, you've never done/ heard of ; If you are asked about it in the interview, you will look ridiculous, not knowing what to answer.

Education. Pay a high attention to your accomplishments  during the faculty; Please note: this is not relevant if you work in that field for more than two years.

Organizing your CV. Do not cram your resume and do not keep it to just one page, even if you have something to say. There is no problem if it has 3 pages , as long as the content is relevant to the job for which you have applied. If prospective employer will bother reading your resume , he will lose interest quickly.

Misspellings . No employer will look for someone who does not even bother to correct his own mistakes. Do not count on a quick view of your resume, read it over again two or three times carefully.

References. Check your references before you use their names. There's nothing worse than to use the name of a person who either moved or has something against you. The best people you have to use it for the present references may be your employer or college or high school teacher.
