2nd Commis Chef
Responsibilities:
Assist in Food Preparation: Support the kitchen team in preparing meals, following recipes and instructions from senior chefs to ensure quality and consistency.
Maintain Kitchen Hygiene: Uphold strict cleanliness standards by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment as per health and safety guidelines.
Basic Cooking Tasks: Perform basic cooking duties such as chopping, peeling, and basic cooking under supervision, contributing to the efficiency of the kitchen operations.
Inventory Assistance: Help with inventory management by checking stock levels, receiving deliveries, and rotating stock to minimize waste.
Teamwork: Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during meal times, working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Learning and Development: Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of international cuisines.
Requirements:
Education: Preferably a graduate from a culinary school or relevant culinary training.
Experience: Some experience in a professional kitchen environment, though entry-level candidates with strong culinary education are considered.
Skills: Basic cooking skills with an understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
Team Player: Ability to work well within a team, taking direction and contributing to a positive kitchen atmosphere.
Flexibility: Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, on a rotating schedule typical of cruise ship operations.
Language: Basic proficiency in English to communicate effectively with an international crew and follow instructions.
