Galley steward
Holiday: 2 months between contracts
Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all galley areas, including cooking equipment, utensils, and surfaces, to meet health and safety standards.
Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and cutlery, ensuring they are spotless and ready for use.
Food Preparation Assistance: Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks when needed, such as peeling, chopping, or washing ingredients.
Waste Management: Manage food waste disposal according to environmental regulations and ship policies, ensuring proper recycling and waste segregation.
Inventory Support: Help with inventory checks, restocking supplies, and organizing storage areas to ensure efficient galley operation.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other galley and dining staff to ensure smooth operation during meal services.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or on a cruise ship, is beneficial.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often standing for long periods, and handling heavy kitchen equipment.
Attention to Detail: Keen eye for cleanliness and hygiene, with the ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols.
Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team setting.
Language: Basic English communication skills to understand instructions and communicate with international crew members.
Flexibility: Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a dynamic environment.
